Odisha: Rebels asked to lay down arms

The top cops met senior officials of the paramilitary forces and senior police officers.

KORAPUT: Odisha state DGP Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma, Additional Director General (ADG) R.P. Koche and DIG S. Saini on Tuesday reviewed the anti-Maoist operations in southern districts of the state. Both the top cops met senior officials of the paramilitary forces and senior police officers. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the DGP said the anti-Maoist operation at Narayanpatna on Sunday night was a major success for the state police.

“The anti-Maoist operation at Narayanpatna in Koraput district on Sunday night was a major success not only Koraput police but for the entire state,” said the DGP. As many as four women Maoists, including the dreaded cadre Ungli, were neutralised during an encounter with the security personnel on Sunday night.
The slain ultras belonged to Andhra-Odisha Special Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoist).
