Visakhapatnam: Aspirants tell Vizagites their plans for the city
SCS, safety, development and service is the buzz word.
Visakhapatnam: Candidates of the main parties for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seats came onto the same stage on Wednesday and spoke about their past work, what their desire for the city and their plans.
Former CBI joint director V.V. Lakshminarayana, Daggubati Purandeswari, M.V.V. Satyanarayana and M. Sribharat, representing the Jana Sena, BJP, YSRC and Telugu Desam respectively, participated in the ‘Mukha Mukhi’ programme organised by Press Club.
Ms Purandeswari said: “The BJP has announced the railway zone with Vizag as the headquarters as promised. However, the borders have not yet finalised. The Congress failed to mention Special Category Status in the Bifurcation Act, saying that the feasibility would be studied regarding other issues. That is why I resigned from the party. During my term as Visakhapatnam MP, I did a lot for the city’s development, including beautification of the beach, getting international airport status etc. I believe that people will vote for me keeping all these in mind.”
Mr Lakshminarayana: “We are asking the people to win the election by voting for the Jana Sena. Visakhapatnam is a Smart City and now we need to transform it as a safe city. Jana Sena can assure you to make the city safe and Visakhapatnam would be transformed as a ‘mini India’.”
Responding to a question, Mr Lakshminarayana said, “There is no chance for the governments to interfere in the CBI cases. They will never influence the probe as CBI works independently.”
Mr Sribharat: “Youth should come into politics. I’m inspired by the performance of Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu as an MP. This shows how youth can fight and find solutions to problems. My grandfather M.V.V.S. Murthi said that it is not easy to be in the service of the poor. He asked me to be in active politics to serve the people. I still remind these words as he said them when he was suffering from dengue. Later after recovery, we lost him in a road mishap in the United States. I’m here with an aim to serve the people and will win the elections.”
Mr Satyanarayana: “I’m the only local candidate contesting in the election in Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha Constituency. I’m very much aware of the issues in the constituency and I can address them faster. The people are ready to vote for the YSRC as it can fight for the Special Category Status. Speaking through work is my style and will prove that the people have chosen the right person.”
