Raipur: Madhya Pradesh home minister Babulal Gaur has drawn ire of feminists for glorifying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “sacrifice of family life” for the service of the nation.
Mr Gaur, while talking to media persons at Bareli on the sidelines of participating in a government function, heaped praise on Mr Modi by describing him as “Brahmachari” (pure), “yogi” and “Tapasvi” (ascetic). “He (Mr Modi) has even sacrificed his family life by deserting his wife to dedicate himself for the service of the nation”, he observed.
He also described the NDA government at the Centre as “totally corruption free”, and added that not a single minister in the Union government faced graft charges in the past two years.
Women activists took strong exception to Mr Gaur’s comment on the PM describing it as “most irresponsible”. “Such comments are not only disrespectful to women but also to the PM”, Anjali Alia, general secretary of an NGO said.
