UoH staff body pulls out of JAC
The UoH Staff Union said some group members were misusing the JAC.
Hyderabad: The UoH Staff Union pulled out of the Joint Action Committee formed by the university’s non-teaching staff associations to protest against a brawl in which one of the students protesting on the Rohith Vemula issue beat up a non-teaching staff member during the vandalism at the vice-chancellor’s lodge.
The hostel mess was shut down and power and water supply disconnected in the university after the incident. The UoH Staff Union said some group members were misusing the JAC platform for their personal benefit. When the JAC was formed, some members from the university alleged that it was set up by the UoH administration to soften the agitation following Rohith Vemula’s suicide. Students said that the union’s move was proof of what they had been saying.
