Hyderabad: A 13-year-old boy died while learning to swim in a lake at Cherlapally on Saturday morning.

Police said the boy, Battu Raj Kiran, a student of Class VIII, was learning to swim at the Chinna Cherlapally Cheruvu since some days.

“The boy was seen going to the lake which was built for festival immersions by the public. On Saturday morning, he went to the middle of the lake which was about 10 feet deep and was unable to swim out from there,” said Cherlapally police sub inspector M. Ravi Kumar.

Based on a complaint filed by the boy’s father Jaya Raju, a government employee, Cherlapally police booked a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC and launched an investigation.
