The IT sector is projected to add one lakh jobs in the upcoming fiscal year 2018-19, a flat growth compared to last fiscal, said industry body Nasscom.

Hyderabad: In the new zonal system approved by the Telangana Cabinet on Sunday, 95 per cent of the jobs will be reserved for locals of the respective zones and five per cent jobs will be offered under open quota, for which candidates from all zones can compete. There will be district, zonal, multi-zonal, state cadres for jobs.

There will be no direct recruitment for state-cadre jobs and the posts will be filled through promotions. The existing state-cadre posts like Group-I will be categorised as multi-zonal posts.

At present, there are two zones in Telangana, which were created in Undivided AP in 1973. Undivided AP had six zones, four in Seemandhra and two in Telangana. These zones were created following the Presidential Order of 1973, as per Article 371(D) of the Constitution, to provide equitable job opportunities for Andhra, Rayalaseema and Telangana districts.

In the existing zonal system, while filling district-level posts, 20 per cent of total posts were offered under open merit quota.  For zonal-cadre posts, 30 per cent posts and in the multi-zonal cadre, 40 per cent posts were offered for which any eligible candidate from anywhere in the state can apply. In the proposed new zonal system, this has been done away with.
