Clarify stand on Land: Telangana high court raps officials

Hyderabad: The Telangana HC has issued notice to panchayat raj department officials of Peddapalli district to explain their stand on a petition alleging that they were constructing a crematorium on a parcel of privately-held land.

The court was dealing with a petition by Mr Nayini Krishna Reddy, who alleged that the mandal parishad development officer and the tahsildar of Peddapalli, with the help of local persons, had started construction of a crematorium on his patta land situated at Bompally near Peddapalli town. He said the land had not been acquired for the purpose, and even a notification was not issued. The court sought an explanation from the officials.
