Idgah Mir Alam gears up for Eid
Police is drafting road restrictions for traffic and providing security cover during the Id prayers.
Hyderabad: Elaborate arrangements are being made for the Id prayers at Idgah Mir Alam, where more than two lakh worshippers may offer special prayers.
Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem visited the idgah along with senior officials of various departments on Monday and reviewed the preparations.
Work related to arrangements at idgahs have already started.
Departments like the GHMC, HMWS&SB, police, electricity and TSRTC are involved in providing facilities for worshippers.
Id-ul-Fitr this year will fall on June 5 or 6, depending on the moon sighting.
GHMC workers have begun sanitation works. Inside the Mir Alam idgah, floors are being cleaned. Water dispensers and water barrels will be available between the rows. Tent coolers will be installed inside the idgah. The electricity department will provide mobile transformers to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

General vehicles will not be allowed from morning till the end of the Id congregation between Bahadurpura crossroads and Shastripuram crossroads. Vehicles belonging to worshippers will be allowed near the idgah.
The TSRTC will arrange special buses from various destinations to the Idgah Mir Alam. Health and sanitation workers will also be deployed during the prayer.
Mr Saleem advised officials to erect additional tents and arrange carpets outside the Idgah considering the heat wave as people pray in the adjacent open areas and roads. He said that imam-wo-qateeb Macca Masjid Moulana Rizwan Qureshi will lead the prayers and deliver sermon the afterwards while Moulana Dr Saifullah and Moulana Hussamuddin Saani Jafar Pasha will speak before the prayers. The prayer at Idgah Mir Alam will begin at 10 am.
He said that apart from Idgah Mir Alam, the Wakf Board is also making arrangements in various idgahs in the twin cities at Madannapet, Golconda and Hafizpet.
