Hyderabad: Even AP Chief Minister-designate Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu were ‘unacceptable’ to some voters. A couple of thousand voters in both their constituencies preferred the Nota (None of the above) option.

Kuppam in Chittoor district, from where Mr Naidu contested, recorded 2,905 votes for Nota.

In Pulivendula in Kadapa district, from where Mr Reddy won by more than 90,000 votes, there were 2,160 Nota votes.

Mr Naidu secured more than 1 lakh votes and won by 30.772 votes. Mr Reddy polled 1,32,356 votes and his margin of victory was 90,110 votes.

This is Mr Naidu’s seventh election from Kuppam from 1989, among the senior politicians of the country and a three-time Chief Minister.

Mr Naidu surprisingly trailed behind Mr Chandra Mouli but ultimately won by 30,772 votes. His margin fell from 47,121 votes in 2014.

For Mr Reddy, this was the third election from Pulivendula and his party won 151 seats and got more than 50 of the vote share.

Despite this, over 2,000 voters opted for Nota. However YS Jagan is unacceptable for some voters in his own assembly constituency. In the assembly elections in Pulivendula 2160 votes polled to NOTA.  He achieved a record majority of 90,110 votes from Pulivendula this time against 75,242 votes the last time.
