CLP Leader Demands Rehabilitation for Vattem Project Evacuees
Hyderabad: Questioning the indifference of the state government in providing rehabilitation to Vattem project evacuees, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka wrote an open letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and sought implementation of the Land Acquisition Act 2013.
Bhatti visited the project, which is part of Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation project in Bijinepalli mandal of Nagarkurnool district, as part of his padyatra on Sunday.
People from the affected tandas surrounding the project, including Ankaspalli, Karukonda, Ramireddypalli and G Gutta poured out their woes and sought the Congress leader’s help in bringing relief.
Stating that the government should help people belonging to SC and ST communities, Bhatti reminded Rao of his promise to build the Palamuru Ranga Reddy project within 30 months while laying the foundation stone on June 11, 2015. Not even fifty per cent of the works have been completed, he said.
Around 4,500 acres of land and 463 residential houses in four villages will be completely submerged, he added.
Post the socio-economic survey, 154 persons, who crossed 18 years of age, had not received any rehabilitation. Money meant to be given to those affected in over 20 acres was swindled by the middlemen, the locals said.
