Info sought on reopening of SCB roads
He said the SCB should list the timings and other restrictions, if any, on the roads and identification protocol to be followed on each road.
Hyderabad: After waiting for a month for SCB roads to be reopened, affected citizens residing in the northeastern colonies of Secunderabad have asked the board CEO to end the confusion on the matter. “In order to remove the confusion that currently surrounds the road reopening exercise, we request you to kindly make an announcement giving the dates by which the remaining closed roads will be reopened in line with the orders,” secretary to the Federation of Northeastern Colonies in Secunderabad C.S. Chandrashekar wrote.
He said the SCB should list the timings and other restrictions, if any, on the roads and identification protocol to be followed on each road. “The residents have described the problems being faced by citizens in the northeastern part of the twin cities due to the closure of roads in Secunderabad Cantonment. We had also handed over various documents related,” he said.
Despite the ministry of defence orders, several roads continue to be closed, he said. “The minutes of the meeting of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board on May 31 mentions only about two closed roads, whereas the actual number of roads that are still closed is much m-ore.” Mr Chandrasekhar said.
Residents said that many of the roads that have been reopened are being closed at night and sometimes during the day as well. “On some roads, the guards ask for identity verification but not on other roads. Walkers are being allowed on some roads and not on others. There is no clarity about this as they have been no announcements at all by the military authorities,” the federation said.
