TRS foresees Congress’s end under Revanth Reddy’s leadership
The TRS leaders said the Congress was on the ventilator in Telangana state and Reddy\'s entry as TPCC chief would mark the end of the party
Hyderabad: TRS leaders mocked the newly-appointed Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A. Revanth Reddy’s claims that he would lead the Congress back to power in the state.
Addressing a press conference at the TRS Legislature Party office on the Legislative Assembly premises on Monday, Pasunuri Dayakar Rao, MP, Rajeshwar Rao, MLC, and legislators Balka Suman, Guvvala Balaraju, Chanti Kranthi Kiran and Nomula Bhagat said that the Congress would meet the fate of the Telugu Desam in Telangana under Revanth Reddy’s leadership.
The TRS leaders said the Congress was on the ventilator in Telangana state and Revanth Reddy's entry as TPCC chief would mark the end of the party.
Suman said the TD vanished from Telangana state, when Revanth Reddy was its working president and the same would be repeated for the Congress under his tenure. “Fissures erupted in the Congress soon after Revanth was made TPCC chief. Senior Congress leaders are angry at the high command for choosing a person like Revanth, who is much junior to them and who is facing ACB and ED cases in the cash-for-vote scam. Senior leaders are planning to quit the Congress and join other parties. Even the Congress cadre is upset over Revanth being made TPCC chief and is planning to leave the party. The Congress will soon become leaderless and cadreless in Telangana under Revanth's leadership," said Suman.
Kranthi Kiran recalled Congress leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy's statement that it would be great if the Congress managed to retain its deposit in the upcoming Huzurabad Assembly bypoll, indicating what fate the Congress would meet under Revanth Reddy’s leadership in future.
Balaraju said people were not taking Revanth Reddy seriously and the chances of revival of the Congress in Telangana were nil whoever might take over as the TPCC president.
TRS leaders thanked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for implementing the historic CM Dalit Empowerment Scheme to transfer Rs 10 lakh to each family covering 100 families in each of the 119 Assembly constituencies by spending Rs 1,200 crore this year. They said this would go a long way in empowering Dalits in the state, encourage them to set up their own units under various self-employment schemes and achieve financial and social security.
