Anantapur: Passengers escape unhurt, bus in flames after mishap
Passengers of Orange Travels had a miraculous escape after the bus in which they travelling was reduced to ashes.
Anantapur: Passengers of Orange Travels had a miraculous escape after the bus in which they travelling was reduced to ashes in Prakasam district. Two persons both driver and cleaner suffered injuries in the incident when the bus hit a container at a high speed in between Veereapalli-Mocherla in Ulavapadu mandal in Prakasam district on NH 16.
The private bus was on the way to Chennai from Hyderabad with 18 passengers. It met with an accident in Ulavapadu mandal when the bus driver hit a container in the wee hours. The container overturned on roadside while the sleeper coach bus caught fire soon after hitting the container. Panic-stricken passengers woke up as the fire engulfed the bus after it hit the container from behind at around 5am.
Passengers managed to escape unhurt by jumping from the windows after breaking the glass. The bus completely melted in the fire. The sleeper coach bus belongs to Orange Travels. It was the rash driving by the driver that caused the accident, said passengers. The bus was moving between 120-130kmph at the time of accident, according to eye witnesses.
The container fell off the highway after being hit. However, no serious damage was caused. The bus driver and cleaner suffered injuries and were shifted to hospital. Police registered a case.
