Palike transfers: BBMP officials report sick, go on leave
They are worried about their wards' education, parents' illnesses and difficulties regarding relocation.
Bengaluru: A good number of BBMP officials, who have been recently listed out for transfer, are either on leave or hospitalized as they were upset by the transfers and consider it a punishment, according to BBMP sources. While two women staff from the accounts section are said to have been hospitalized, others have gone on leave citing one reason or the other.
Sources said this was affecting the work at the Palike, who added that even after August 15, when the transfers are going to get regularized, the newly inducted officials will need more than two to three months at least to understand the nature of work at their new postings.
“In revenue department, experienced hands are required and if they are transfer people who have no experience in revenue, it takes time for them to learn,” said Balasubramanian, Contractors Association General Secretary.
However, the counseling of transfers will continue in the interests of BBMP officials. They are worried about their wards’ education, parents’ illnesses and difficulties regarding relocation.
