Vijayawada: Inner ring road open, to smoothen traffic flow city to end city

Highway traffic will now be diverted away from city.

VIJAYAWADA: In a major relief to citizens of Vijayawada and those using the National Highway-9, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the inner ring road flyover at Ramavarappadu ring in Vijayawada on Wednesday. The 9.84 km inner ring road was built at a cost of Rs 122.35 crore and connects NH-9 to NH- 5. The inner ring road will help to divert traffic coming from Hyderabad to the NH-5 at Ramavarappadu junction.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said the road would be connected to Amaravati seed capital in the future and ease traffic congestion in the city. Stating that several development works were taken up, including construction of a flyover at Durga ghat near Prakasam barrage, Mr Naidu said that development of Vijayawada city was a priority. The Chief Minister stressed the need for improving the brand image of Vijayawada city by beautifying it.

He appealed to people to extend hospitality to pilgrims during Krishna pushkaralu. Later, the Chief Minister inspected the inner ring road and asked the officials to explore the possibility of extending the Mustabada road connecting the inner ring road, to provide a parallel road to the NH-9 at Gannavaram to provide hassle-free journey to airport.
