Hyderabad: Moghalupura police, acting on the orders of the High Court, restored his house to one Mirza Farooq Ali Baig, who had been thrown out by his son and daughter-in-law.

Mr Farooq Ali Baig, a government pensioner, had moved the High Court to restore possession of the house owned by him and provide protection for life and property under the Maintenance of Parents and Senior Citizens Act and Rule 21 Chapter VI of the AP Maintenance of Parents and Senior Citizens.

His counsel Mirza Nisar Ahmed Baig said that Mr Farooq Ali Baig’s son Mirza Mukarram Ali Baig was forcing him to give Rs 90,000 to start a new business. When he refused, his son started pressurising him to sign blank non-judicial paper.

On Mr Farooq Ali Baig’s refusal, his son slapped him and pushed him out of the house. Mr Farooq Ali Baig approached the police on January 31 and April 3 complaining about the behaviour of his son and seeking protection. The police refused to take action and referred the matter to the revenue divisional officer. Aggrieved by the police inaction, Mr Farooq Ali Baig approached the High Court.

The High Court ordered the police to restore the possession of the house to the petitioner and provide protection to life and property. Moghalpura station house officer A. Ravi Kumar said in compliance of the court order on Saturday they handed over the possession of the house to Mr Farooq Ali Baig.
