Thiruvananthapuram: Even before the dust over the Union Minister of State Alphons Kannathanam's sleep at a relief camp settled, the BJP is caught up in another embarrassment after a picture with a misleading caption is trending on the social media.A Facebook user Sreekumar Sreedharannair, supposedly a BJP sympathiser, posted a picture of Mr. Kannanthanan and BJP MP V Muraleedharan handing over a cheque to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Couple of officials are also seen in the picture.

The caption of the picture in Malayalam says that, "BJP's union ministers and MPs are contributing to the CM's relief fund. Now don't say that the funds are not received."

The picture posted on Sunday evening was shared by more than 10,000 in 24-hours time and over 1600 persons commented, mostly in bad taste.

The reason is that the cheque being handed over was that of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited's contribution to the Chief Minister's relief fund and not any contribution by the minister or the MP.

Even the public sector oil company had posted the pictures on their official social media pages.

A recent post by Kannanthanam sleeping on a relief camp had caused much embarrassment to the BJP and it was widely trolled on the social media.
