Vijayawada: Amid raging controversy over minister Botsa Satyanarayana’s comments on the capital city, it now emerges that the government is not in a hurry to decide the fate of Amaravati rightaway.

The government wants to first understand the irregularities and then come to a conclusion on what to do with the capital — whether it will be only a functional and administrative capital or a grand city that was envisioned by the previous government. This means it will take a few months for the government to take a view on Amaravati.

Talking to Deccan Chronicle, finance minister Buggana Rajendranath said that the scam is huge as the irregularities took place right from zoning to land pooling and awarding contracts of construction.

He said, “We want to first review the irregularities and then arrive at a conclusion.”
