Army to supervise fencing along Indo-Bangladesh border: Sonowal
The home minister has agreed to handover the supervision of fencing work on border to army, says Assam CM.
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday said that ministry of home affairs has agreed to handover the supervision of construction of fencing along Indo-Bangladesh border to the Army.
Pointing out that Assam government had written a letter to the ministry in this regard, Mr Sonowal told reporters, “I met Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday and discussed various issues. The home minister has agreed to handover the supervision of fencing work on border to army."
Mr Sonowal said that home ministry has also agreed to grant extension to 64 foreigners tribunals with retrospective effect. Mr Sonowal said that his government was determined to complete the ongoing work updating the National Register of Citizenship.
