Chennai: A 25-year-old man died while two of his friends suffered grievous injuries after their bike hit the parapet wall of the Kathivakkam flyover near Ennore on Tuesday evening, resulting in the trio falling from a height of 20 feet to the ground. Police identified the deceased as Kamal (25), a welder. His friends Vignesh (20) and Surya (22) survived with grievous injuries. All three of them are residents of Singaravelar Nagar in Kasimedu.
On Tuesday, the three of them set off on a motorbike to meet a friend in Ennore and were returning home when they met with the accident around 8 pm, police said. Kamal was riding the bike and while negotiating a turn on the bridge, he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the parapet wall. “In the impact, the three of them were thrown off their vehicle and fell from a height of 20 feet onto the ground,” a police officer said.
Passersby rushed to their aid on hearing the loud thud and arranged for them to be taken in an ambulance. Kamal was killed on the spot, police said.
“Vigensh is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Tiruvottiyur while Surya is under treatment at the government Stanley medical college hospital. Both are in critical condition,” an officer with the Madhavaram traffic investigation wing said.
Kamal’s body was handed over to the family members after post mortem on Wednesday.
