GHMC assistant engineer lands in ACB's net

The money was recovered from the fuel tank cover of the morotcyle of the accused person, ACB officials said.

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday trapped a GHMC official for a second time in four years while accepting a bribe worth Rs 30,000 from a civil contractor in the Old City.

The arrested person V Kuppa Naik, assistant engineer, (civil) Huppuguda division of GHMC south, had demanded the money from Mohammed Azeez, a civil contractor. 

Based on the complaint made by Mr Azeez, the officials laid  trap and caught him at Rakshapuram colony main road in Santosh-nagar while he was accepting the bride. 

The money was recovered from the fuel tank cover of the morotcyle of the accused person, ACB officials said. 

In 2013, the assistant engineer was caught by the ACB while accepting Rs 35,000 bribe from a contractor.  A case of disproportionate assets was also registered against him  in February 2013 for possessing assets to the tune of Rs 1.57 crore.  In both the cases, charge sheets were filed and they are pending trial before the ACB court, the officials said.
