Tamil Nadu ministers hold dengue drive with educationists

CHENNAI: After an increased prevalence of dengue among school students, health department and corporation of Chennai conducted a dengue awareness meeting for nursing students, stakeholders and school headmasters on Wednesday.

Health minister Dr C. Vijayabhaskar along with health secretary J. Radhakrishnan,  education minister K.A. Sengottaiyan, director of Medical Services Dr P. Banu and Chennai collector V. Anbuselvan held a meeting to discuss dengue control measures to be taken in the state.

In the meeting headed by K.A. Sengottaiyan, C. Vijayabaskar stressed the importance of cleanliness and breeding checks in educational institutions to prevent the spread of dengue. He said that the school premises should be checked for domestic breeding of mosquitoes. School authorities should rush the students to government hospitals for screening in case of fever.

The health department officials also distributed pamphlets on dengue management, prevention and control of the disease to government employees.
