Hyderabad: Kodangal ex-MLA A. Revanth Reddy accused caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being responsible for the income-tax department raids at his houses and those of his friends and relatives.
Mr Reddy was campaigning in Kodangal constituency in Mahbubnagar district when news of the raids reached him at Kosgi.
Addressing people in the village, Mr Revanth Reddy said, “KCR and Modi have joined hands to send me to jail. The employees of Modi and workers of KCR are sitting in my house.”
He said raids were being held at various places and that his sister-in-law had been arrested. “This is the worst thing done by KCR,” he said.
He said I-T officers were asking him to end the campaign and return to Hyderabad.
“Mr KCR is worried that he can’t win the elections if I start campaigning throughout the state. I will pay back with interest. KCR’s heirs will pay for this,” Mr Revanth Reddy said.
He claimed that Mr Modi and Mr Rao wanted him in jail till the end of the elections.
