K Chandrasekhar Rao's day out at last session of the TS Legislative Council
Mr Rao told legislators that the TRS will sweep the Assembly polls by bagging 100-plus seats and return to the Assembly.
Hyderabad: Caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday spent two hours at the Legislature on what could be his last visit during the current term.
After the Assembly was dissolved on September 6, the Council met for two hours to meet the constitutional obligation of holding a session once in six months.
The session was confined to adopting condolence motions and adjourned sine die soon after.
Mr Rao visited his chambers in Assembly and spent some time with caretaker ministers and former MLAs. Later, he visited his renovated chambers in the Council and spent some time before attending the session. An air of excitement prevailed in the premises as Mr Rao’s convoy and ministers arrived for the session; this was the first time in the state’s history that the Council met without the Assembly being in existence.
Most discussions centered on the winning chances of candidates. Ministers and TRS leaders exuded confidence that Mr Rao would return as Chief Minister in December after winning the elections, while Opposition leaders countered saying this would be his last visit as Chief Minister as the Telangana Rashtra Samiti would lose the polls.
The old Council hall was renovated for the session; it was under the possession of the Andhra Pradesh government till March and handed over to the Telangana state government because the Jubilee Hall was under renovation.
The Chief Minister’s chamber used by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the old Council hall was renovated for Mr Rao.
Mr Rao also spent some time with caretaker ministers and members of legislative council and told them that the Telangana Rashtra Samiti would sweep Assembly polls by bagging 100-plus seats.
