KOLLAM: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said providing more Central aid to Kerala will be considered after receiving report from the Central team that assessed the devastation caused by the flood. Mr. Singh said this while inaugurating the Kollam edition of Janmabhumi newspaper here.
"The people should overcome the losses inflicted by the flood in the cultural and heritage spaces of the State. The Central government will extend wholehearted support to the State for it to overcome the after effects of the disaster," Mr. Rajnath Singh added.
Lauding the efforts by fishermen in rescuing the public in the flood affected areas, Mr. Singh said the fishermen have made a commendable job during the disaster. He also criticised the political murders in the State. "The State which has a vast cultural legacy is leading in the areas of art, healthcare and many more.
Though the State is far ahead in literacy and education, political attacks also exist here. There is no space for attacks in democracy," he added.
O. Rajagopal, MLA, BJP national council member P.K. Krishnadas, V. Muraleedharan, and BJP district president G. Gopinath were present.
