Rajnath Singh says coastal areas put on alert
The Navy and Coast Guard are ready to meet any situations and ensure that Mumbai-2008 is not repeated, said the defence minister.
KOLLAM: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that the security forces had stepped up the vigil along the coastal regions in view of the threat posed by terrorists from across the borders.
“A neighbouring country had planned terror attacks along the coastline from Rann of Kutch to Kerala and hence we have strengthened the maritime security,” Mr Singh said while addressing the 66th birthday celebrations of Mata Amritanandamayi at Vallikkavu here on Friday.
“The Navy and Coast Guard are ready to meet any such situations and ensure that Mumbai-2008 is not repeated,” he said.
“The Pulwama terror attack was answered through Balakot air strike. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly warned those trying to disturb the peace in our country,” he said.
Kerala has a lengthy coastline and is prone to infiltration by outsiders. However, the Navy and Coast Guard are equipped to protect the country, he added.
