Bengaluru: Three die as two scooters collide

Three people, who were riding a scooter, were not wearing helmets.

BENGALURU: Riding triple on a bike and that too without helmets, left two of them dead while one sustained injuries, when their scooters  collided at Chikkanahalli Gate in Nandagudi in Bengaluru rural district early Thursday.

The rider of the other bike too died in the accident, while the pillion rider sustained injuries. The deceased have been identified as Khalim (50), who was the rider, Bharqath (35), pillion, both friends and residents of K R Puram, while Ravindra (26), the rider of other vehicle, was a resident of Kolar.

The injured have been identified as Chand Pasha and Rohith.  According to the police, the accident took place around 12.30 am when Khalim, Bharqath and Chand Pasha were heading in a scooter towards Tavrekere to drop Pasha, a resident of Midigatta. While they were taking a U-turn near Chikkanahalli Gate they collided head on with another scooter, being driven by Ravindra with Rohith riding pillion.

The passerby rushed the accident victims to a nearby hospital where doctors declared Khalim, Barqath and Ravindra brought dead.

The condition of Chand Pasha and Rohith is said to be serious. The Nandgudi traffic police have registered a case. They are yet to ascertain whether the riders were drunk.
