Chennai Corporation takes stock of men, machinery ahead of monsoon
Chennai corporation and state industries department conducted a high-level meeting with young IAS officers.
CHENNAI: With northeast monsoon setting in Tamil Nadu on Friday, Chennai corporation and state industries department conducted a high-level meeting with young IAS officers appointed as nodal officers for the monsoon-related works. The high level meeting at the Ripon Buildings took stock of the men and machinery available to the state departments to tackle the monsoon.
Liasoning officers and field officials vested with the job of relief, evacuation and medical assistance were briefed about their role and the network that has to be stimulated in case of heavy rains. Prevention of water-logging in estate areas and the preliminary measures that have to be in place for small and medium enterprises, removal of trees and traffic management were also discussed in the meeting chaired by industries secretary Atulya Misra. Corporation commissioner D. Karthikeyan and Chennai collector Anbu Selvan also participated in the meeting.
