CM Pinarayi Vijayan vows justice to Gauri Neha kin

Kollam: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has assured the family of Gauri Neha, 15, who jumped from the Trinity Lyceum allegedly because of mental torture by teachers, that he would take immediate action against the culprits behind the alleged suicide of the girl. The family met the Chief Minister in his office in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday. They also demanded a high-level probe into the case.

“We informed the Chief Minister that we suspect a conspiracy behind the death of our daughter. We are also not satisfied with the current inquiry led by the Police and the investigation should be handed over to high-level officers. The culprits should be brought before the court of law and penalized. We decided to react on the issue as such incidents should not be repeated,” Prassannakumar, Gauri’s father said.

The family had earlier announced that it would go on a hunger strike until death in front of the school seeking action against the culprits behind Gauri’s death. Prasannakumar alleged that the class teacher, Crescence Navis, had been mentally torturing the girl since last year threatening that he would cut off her internal marks and deny her permission to attend public examinations.

Meanwhile, the district collector, based on a plea by the school management, has called for an all-party meeting on Saturday in his chamber to resolve the issue and facilitate immediate reopening of the school. The school management has constituted a 13-member council including PTA members, politicians, and management representatives for the meeting.
