Mysuru: Dreams have a way of coming true at times and some may even receive much more than they could have ever imagined.  And so it was for a childless couple from Madapura village in Nanjangud taluk, who found their joy not doubled but tripled, when after a wait of six years they became parents to triplets earlier this week.

All three babies - a boy and two girls - and their mother, 26 year- old Roopa,  are all doing well, according to Dr Shashikumar of a private hospital in Nanjangud where the triplets were born Wednesday morning, a couple of weeks earlier than anticipated.

"While we usually wait for 36 weeks for delivering triplets, we went ahead with the delivery in 34 weeks as the mother had abdominal pain.  The babies weighed 1300 grams, 1600 grams and 1900 grams when they were born, but their weight has  now improved. While all three are being kept in incubators, the girls have begun taking mother's milk," Dr Shashikumar said.

The couple, Manjunath and Roopa, were married in 2011. Roopa  lost a  baby girl due to premature delivery three years ago but had no other problem that could have come in the way of her conceiving. The couple were, however, not blessed with a child despite all their prayers. Their long wait ended after Roopa gave birth to the triplets.
