Congress promises farm land for veterans

The party's manifesto will also be released on that day.

Hyderabad: The Congress will announce its list of candidates on November 1, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Saturday. The party’s  manifesto will also be released on that day.

The TPCC announced some more sops including an assurance to allot a house site and five acres of agricultural land to each ex-servicemen in the state. 

Mr Reddy said colonies will be established across the state for ex-servicemen. He said the Congress would give a respectable place in society to ex-servicemen.

The TPCC chief said that according to Central government guidelines, ex-servicemen will be provided five acres of agricultural land and Rs 5 lakh interest-free loan to build a house. 

Adding to the enhanced list of benefits, he said that 2 per cent reservations will be provided in government and non-government jobs. 

The gallantry award amount will also be increased, he said. The families of dead and injured ex-servicemen would be given financial assistance along with employment for one person in the family.

The TPCC election manifesto committee headed by former deputy chief minister Damodar Raja Narasimha was held on Saturday at Gandhi Bhavan. The committee discussed several sops to be offered to various sections. After the meeting Mr Raja Narasimha and TPCC election manifesto committee co-chairman Komatireddy Venkata Reddy said that they will establish one medical college in every district headquarters.
