Ramesh Chennithala slams arrest of protesters
Mr. Chennithala condemned the attack on the ashram of Swami Sandeepananda Giri.
KOCHI: Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala criticised the arrest of thousands of protestors who participated in the Nama Japa Yatra’ including women against the Supreme Court verdict permitting entry of women of all ages to Sabarimala temple.
Addressing the media here on Saturday, Mr. Chennithala said that the government has to pay the price for denying the civil rights of people.
“Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is trying to be Kerala Stalin and denying the democratic rights of peaceful protestors. It is for the first time in the history of police that police arrest agitators who were peacefully taking out processions,” he said.
The Opposition leader alleged that the CPM is trying to hijack the various renaissance movements in the state including ‘temple entry proclamation’.
