Secunderabad Cantonment Board not told about 10 roads
Many roads have remained closed even though the defence ministry has ordered all roads open.
Hyderabad: An activist has secured information using the RTI that the Local Military Authority (LMA) had closed 10 roads without taking the Secunderabad Cantonment Board into confidence. Many roads have remained closed even though the defence ministry has ordered all roads open.
Mr Mohan Guruswamy, a resident of Yapral, said, “I am shocked by the insubordination that the Local Military Authority is showing, despite the orders from the ministry of defence being very clear to open all the roads they are not following it and not stating any reasons for it.”
The Objective Assessment sent by SCB Chief Executive Officer C.V.R. Chandrashekar to the principal director, Defence Estates, ministry of defence, was obtained using an RTI application.
It has clearly mentioned about the complaints received in opened roads regarding the checks done by Army soldiers for ID cards and soldiers being trained in the middle of the roads and others issues.
There was a lot of confusion with regard to nomenclature in the earlier reports, but the assessment mentioned: “It was therefore clarified by this office that in addition to the roads in AOC area, all roads which were in the area north of Balaclava Road, south of Kowkoor Road and east of Rajiv Rahadari till Cantonment Limits have been closed irrespective of nomenclature.” The four-walled constructions at RK Puram flyover, Ammuguda Holy Trinity and Lakdawala gate are also intact.
The assessment also noted that night restrictions had been removed on four roads in the SCB area.
