Three strangers held on suspicion are AP police
The police constables were identified as Narayana Reddy, Venkateshwar Rao and Madhu.
Jagital: The Dharmapuri police took three police constables (Intelligence Department) of the Andhra Pradesh police into custody on Friday evening and let them off after they revealed that they were police .
The police constables were identified as Narayana Reddy, Venkateshwar Rao and Madhu. However, there is no clarity on why the policemen came to Dharmapuri - whether they had darshan and took a holy dip in the Godavari or for some other work.
The issue came to light after a video, in which villagers were seen questioning the Andhra constables in plain clothes, went viral on Saturday. The news spread in the nearby areas and people started enquiring about the incident.
The local people informed the police that three persons were moving about suspiciously in their locality and that they might be thieves. The local police took them into their custody.
Dharmapuri SI Anjaiah said they had inquired about the whereabouts of the three persons and they revealed that they were Andhra police with ID. They let them off and no case has been registered in connection with the incident.
