Hyderabad: 7-year-old girl plays with rope, loses life
Rope was used to tie her younger sister inside the house.
Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a 7-year-old girl playing with a rope tied to a window in her home got caught accidentally in it and died in Pahadishareef. Police said Farheen Sultana was playing with the rope which her parents used for tying up her 2-year-old sister to prevent her from going out of the house. The parents who returned home from work late in the night found Farheen motionless. They rushed her to a hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Police said Farheen was the eldest daughter of Syed Waheed, a daily wage labourer, and Fathima Begum. Farheen has two younger siblings, six-year-old brother Rehan and two-year-old sister Sofiya Sultana. As Sofiya had a habit of wandering around the house, her parents used to tie her with a rope to the window grill. Farheen, a school dropout, used to take care of her siblings when her parents go for work.
On Saturday morning, the parents tied Sofiya with the rope and left for work as usual. Farheen, who was playing, put a bucket upside down, climbed to the window and started playing with the rope.
Meanwhile, the bucket tumbled and the rope tightened around her neck. Rehan who came in after sometime saw her hanging, brought her down and laid her on the cot thinking that she was sleeping. Around 8.30 pm, when both parents returned home she was motionless.
“They rushed her to a hospital and doctors declared that she died long back,” Pahadis-hareef SI K. Narsing Rathod said.
Based on a complaint from her father, police registered a case of suspicious death and handed over the body to the family after post-mortem.
