Light rain expected on polling day, people advised to cast votes by noon
Hyderabad: Weathermen on Tuesday advised Telangana voters to cast their votes for the upcoming elections before noon on Thursday, predicting a pleasant and cloudy first half of the day, with drizzle and light rain expected in the second half of the day in the city and adjoining districts.
They also advised people travelling to their native places to do so in advance to avoid rain-induced delays.
A report from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) revealed a possibility of rains in the state for the next four days, with officials predicting the formation of a low-pressure area near the Bay of Bengal and south Andaman, which is expected to turn into a cyclone.
This may lead to heavy rains in some parts of the state, while day temperature will also drop, they said.
Dr K. Nagaratna, director incharge for Telangana state, said: “Hyderabad city will be having a cloudy sky. There may be drizzle in some parts, with rains especially expected in southern parts of Hyderabad, Vikarabad and Nagarkurnool. Spells of rain are expected in isolated pockets of the state.”
Meanwhile, public transport officials assured services will ply normally, irrespective of weather conditions.
TSRTC’s managing director V.C. Sajjanar said, “All the TSRTC buses will be plying as per the schedule, within the city limits, as well outstation.”
