I will fulfill promises, unlike Chandrababu Naidu: Jagan Mohan Reddy
He said that his party would not discriminate people on the basis of caste, creed, community and religion.
ANANTAPUR: Leader of the Opposition and YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy firmly stated that he would implement every promise that he has made during the Praja Sankalpa Yatra unlike Chandrababu Naidu, who backtracked on every promise. “Our party manifesto will be uploaded on the Internet and people can question us at any time if any of the assurances remained unfulfilled,” Mr Reddy announced.
Moments before his Praja Sankalpa Yatra in Anantapur came to an end, Mr Reddy while speaking to the media said that his party would not discriminate people on the basis of caste, creed, community and religion for welfare schemes. Reiterating that his party believed in value-based politics, the leader of the opposition recalled that he had clearly asked TDP MLC Silpa Chakrapan from Kurnool to resign as an MLC before joining YSRC.
“Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, however, is shamelessly encouraging defections on a large scale and is purchasing elected representatives from YSRC till date,” Mr Reddy observed. He further added that there was large-scale corruption in Polavaram project and said that TD leaders were minting money in the name of sub-contracts. He alleged that not a single project has been taken up after Mr Naidu came to power.
“Most projects were completed during the YSR regime. Now Mr Naidu is trying to take credit,” he added. When asked about his announcement of bringing down the age of pensionable candidates to 45, he justified that people are not aware of rural realities. Mr Reddy said the decision was taken after seeing the plight of weaver women in Dharmavaram. Yatra. He reiterated his party would implement prohibition in four phases.
Padayatra well received: YSRC
The 22-day long Praja Sankalpa Yatra by opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will come to end in Anantapur on Thursday after he covered a distance of 260 Km. Mr Reddy is scheduled to enter Chittoor on Thursday from Kadiri Assembly in Anantapur district borders. The YSRC chief began his yatra from NP Kunta mandal headquarters. Party sources said that he would cover few kilometres on Thrusday in Anantapur before crossing on to Chittoor, to continue his yatra.
During his tour of Anantapur, Mr Reddy covered Tadipatri, Singanamala, Uravakonda, Raptadu, Dharmavaram, Puttaparthi, and Kadiri constituencies. Earlier, he covered 263 Km in Kurnool covering 66 villages. Uravakonda MLA Y. Visweshwara Reddy observed that the response in Anantapur was great as thousands of supporters took part walked along. . “Though, Anantapur district had majority number of MLAs from ruling Telugudesam, people have clearly expressed their angry towards TD government that failed to fulfil the assurances”, he said.
