Kozhikode: 150 seek medical help after food poisoning

According to health wing, water might be the source of the poison.

The medical camp held at Kottapally near Vadakara followed by food poisoning incident on Thursday.

KOZHIKODE: As many as 150 people sought medical assistance at the medical camp organised at Kottapally near Chemmarathur in Vadakara following food poisoning at a marriage function on Sunday. 

On Monday, 50 of the people who had food at the marriage visited the district hospital. Of this, six children and a woman have been admitted. 

No one is critical. Those who had consumed food felt vomiting and dizziness on the next day. The district medical office conducted a medical camp on Thursday following the incident. Many people had experienced fatigue followed by continuous vomiting. Kids between the age of 2.5 years and eight years were the worst affected. 

According to health wing, water might be the source of the poison. Biriyani, chappathi and rice were the dishes served at the marriage reception function held at Chemmarathur and the invitees who consumed these foods had vomitted. The people at Chemmarathur, Kottapally and Meenkandy have mostly attended the function.
