Hyderabad: Cops in a fix over sudden protests
Then, the venue is changed again just half an hour before the selected time.
Hyderabad: A small group of young people are demonstrating silently every evening in different pre-selected places in the city. Even the special branch of the police department can’t figure out where the next protest will be held. A few members of the group decide where to protest just two hours before it takes place and inform others through a Whatsapp group.
Then, the venue is changed again just half an hour before the selected time. The police are not yet able to find a way to pre-empt them. So far, the demonstrations have been held in Gachibowli, Bogul Kunta King Kothi, Nampally and Charminar Bus Stand Road. On Friday, they selected the Shah Ali Banda Road, as an Urs of a Dargah was being held there.
The time is also not fixed. They frequently change the timings, but usually they demonstrate between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm.
The protest takes the form of queuing up on either side of the road or on the divider of the road holding up placards denouncing the CAA, NRC and NPR. They carry the National Flag in their hands. They don’t cause any traffic disturbance or create trouble for others.
