Nizamabad: To avoid any untoward incidents during the 2024 New Year's Eve celebrations, Nizamabad police have decided to conduct drunken driving and vehicle checks.
There will be videography of revellers violating norms during the festivities. They will be charged under the relevant sections of IPC.
Nizamabad commissionerate on Thursday informed people that New Year must be celebrated while following the norms suggested by the government. Lighting crackers, and having an orchestra and DJ sound system should be within the permissible decibel limits.
Riding vehicles in an inebriated condition will be treated as a serious offence, police warned.
Additional deputy commissioner of police S. Jayaram on Thursday said New Year events will be allowed in the Nizamabad district only if the organisers get permission from the police. Farmhouses, clubs, and gated communities must apply for permission before organising their celebrations.
There will be extra vigilance on New Year's Eve within Nizamabad police commissionerate limits and Nizamabad, Armoor, and Bodhan divisions. Traffic rules must be strictly followed on December 31, 2023, and January 1, 2024.
Jayaram underlined that patrolling will be intensified and drunken driving tests will be conducted at all major junctions. Special parties will start their vigil from 6 p.m. on December 31.
