Chennai: Simbu claims media twisted his paal abishekam' statement
The second video where he asks his fans to celebrate his birthday in a big way was to send out the message in a negative way, said Simbu.
Chennai: Days after actor Simbu received flak for asking his fans to perform milk abishekam for his cutouts and to celebrate his birthday on ‘vera level’, he claims that his statements were twisted by the media.
Speaking to media persons on Monday morning, he blamed the media for misinterpreting his words in two videos, one where he asks his fans not to put up huge cutouts or perform paal abishekam and the other in which he asks them to put up huge flex banners and perform abishekam with ‘andas’ (large vessels) of milk.
The second video where he asks his fans to celebrate his birthday in a big way was to send out the message in a negative way, said Simbu.
“If you listen closely, you will understand that I am not asking them to perform milk abishekam but to distribute the milk to needy people,” he said.
Quoting Ramalinga Adigalar (Vallalar), “Vadiya Payirai Kanda Pothellam Vadinen” (I suffered every time I saw crops wither), Simbu said that was his mindset. “I only asked fans to heat milk in large andas and give it to the poor instead of pouring on my cutouts,” he said.
The actor also visited the family of a fan who had died while doing milk abishekam to his cut-out a year ago, and sobbed an apology.
