Bengaluru: City children thanked the traffic police for their tireless work and celebrated the 14th Traffic Police Day at the Traffic Management Centre at Vasanth Nagar on Monday.
Around 50 students from across the city and about 50 traffic policemen attended the event. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) P. Harishekaran too was present.
Children showered the policemen with praises, saying that the policemen show tenacity and zeal despite facing numerous challenges every day. Several students presented the policemen with thank you cards and handwritten poems.
Mr Harishekaran said, “Bringing the traffic police and children together will enable the children to see who we are. With that, barriers are broken and trust is built, and CMCA makes this happen. Our collaboration with CMCA goes way back and I commend them for what they do.”
CMCA Director Ashish Patel said, “Traffic Police Day is an initiative in building trust and fostering better relationships between the police and children. It is aimed at thanking the traffic police for their tireless services to the community. The future of India lies in the hands of our children and we want to give them experiences that will go a long way in community building and participation.”
Around 5,000 students from 115 private and government schools across the city will either visit traffic police stations or invite the traffic police to their schools to celebrate and express their gratitude throughout the month.
