All Kendriya Vidyalaya's ordered to fly tricolour
There are more than 1,000 Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country.
Chennai: The vice-chancellors of the central universities having passed the resolution last week, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has directed all Kendriya Vidyalaya schools and regional offices to fly the national flag on their campuses. There are more than 1,000 Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country.
"The school principals may be directed to position the flag post at the prominent place, preferably in the morning assembly area, so that all the students are able to salute the Tricolour every day," U.N. Khaware, additional commissioner (academics), KVS, has said.
In a letter dated February 24 to all the regional offices, he directed to ensure raising the flag every morning and its lowering before sunset on the buildings of Kendriya Vidyalayas and regional offices.
KVS has also asked for strict compliance of the provisions contained in the Flag Code of India, 2002 and Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. It has also listed the do's and don'ts to be observed to honour the national flag.
