Hyderabad: Paediatrician back as chief at Niloufer Hospital

Hyderabad: Senior pediatrician Dr Ramesh Reddy was appointed superintendent of Niloufer Hospital on Wednesday. Dr K. Shailaja, a gynaecologist who was appointed to as chief on February 11 after the death of five women following botched Caeserean section surgeries, was sent back to the government maternity hospital at Sultan Bazaar.
According to sources, the norm was to have a paediatrician to head Niloufer Hospital, which mainly deals with children. “After the five maternal deaths, Dr Shailaja was brought in to streamline the situation,” the source said. Dr Ramesh Reddy is a senior professor and has handled the case of conjoined twins Veena and Vani.
