Security for Prime Minister Narendra Modi tight in Kurnool

KURNOOL: Kurnool city has come under an extensive security blanket with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to visit the place on Friday to kick off election campaign there.
Gun-toting security personnel including those from elite forces like black commandoes descended in sizeable number and are seen at every square and junctionof the city.
Hotels and public places have been thoroughly screened. Many of the common citizens were surprised by the scale of security thrown in for the leader.
Kurnool district Superintendent of Police K. Fakkeer-appa said that Mr Modi will address a public meeting on the Kurnool STBC College grounds on Friday. "In view of the visit, strict security arrangements have been made to avert any untoward incidents," he said.
On Thursday, the SP gave instructions to police personnel that arrived from various districts to discharge their duties on the bandobast for the VVIP visit.
He asked the police personnel to be vigilant at the helipad, access control, route tops and at public meetings. He suggested setting up of LED screens besides conducting checks using police dog squads and bomb squads at the VIP sites.
