AP: Massive fire guts down 150 huts in Kakinada, no loss of life reported
Fire tenders battled the blaze for over an hour before they finally brought the fire under control.
Andhra Pradesh: Nearly 150 huts were destroyed in a huge fire that broke out in Parlovapeta area on the outskirts of Kakinada city on Friday evening, police said.
The fire started due to leakage from a gas cylinder.
Personnels of Kakinada Fire Office and a rescue team from the Nagarjuna Fertilizers rushed to the spot. They battled the blaze for over an hour before they finally brought the fire under control, police said.
The fire spread very quickly because the area is close to the coast.
According to local media reports, the fire broke out in a settlement resided by the fishermen community.
Nobody was reported injured. Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa, city MLA Vanamadi Kondababu, collector H Arunkumar, DSP Venkateswararao and others visited the spot.
