Telangana power staff continue their protests

Hyderabad: Power employees hailing from TS but working in AP power utilities staged a dharna in front of APGenco CMD K. Vijayanand’s chamber on Thursday, demanding that they be relieved from AP government service.

About 300 employees, natives of TS, are working in AP Genco, Transco and AP Discoms. TS Electricity Engineers Association president N. Sivaji said the AP government should amicably settle the issue by relieving the employees or face intensified protests.

Meanwhile, in the 13 districts of AP, the APSEB Engineers Association staged dharnas demanding that TS government pay Rs 2,300 crore towards 1,100 MW power being taken from AP power generating stations by TS since bifurcation. The APSEB also wanted 58 per cent share in the properties belonging to the power utilities and payment of Rs 275 crore wheeling charges to APTransco.
