Telangana: Bhoodan lands only for agricultural purposes
Bench issued notices to the state government and other respondents directing them to file counter affidavits.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday directed the Telangana state government not to assign or alienate lands belonging to the Bhoodan Yagna Board other than purpose of landless poor and constructions taken up by local bodies for schools and panchayat office buildings till June 15.
A division bench comprising of the Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter while dealing with a petition by K. Srinivasa Reddy, an advocate, challenging amendment to Bhoodan and Gramdan Act, 1965 made it clear that that the state government cannot use Bhoodan lands allotting house sites to weaker sections or any other purposes.
While positing the case to June 15, the bench issued notices to the state government and other respondents directing them to file counter affidavits.
