Q&A: BJP more known for dynastic politics than Congress, says Priyank Kharge
Kharge said, BJP has no morality at all, let alone accuse us of following dynastic politics.
How important is winning this seat for the Congress and the coalition government?
Every seat is important considering the numbers we have. Moreover as the Bharatiya Janata Party is bent upon carrying out Operation Kamala, winning this seat is very important. But unfortunately nobody is asking why the Bharatiya Janata Party is carrying out Operation Kamala. On the floor of the House, the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Yeddyurappa) himself has admitted that the voice in the audiotape (on allegedly luring MLAs) was his. There is not much debate on this now.
Dr Umesh Jadhav’s son Dr Avinash has been chosen as the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. Your father was accused of promoting dynastic politics by the BJP. Has the Bharatiya Janata Party lost moral ground by deciding to give the ticket to a family member of Dr Jadhav?
The Bharatiya Janata Party has no morality at all, let alone accuse us of following dynastic politics. Take the example of any family of BJP leaders in our district- Guttedar, Revoor, B.G. Patil and now Dr Jadhav. Dynastic politics is much more rampant in the Bharatiya Janata Party than in the Congress. Even at the state level and national level, it exists. The Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary accuses us of murdering democracy. What moral right does he have to say this when he himself has been nominated to the Upper House and not elected by the people? We have been elected by the people, not nominated to the Upper House or Rajya Sabha like him.
