One killed as temple car topples in Puducherry

Puducherry: A devotee was crushed to death and two others were injured by the temple car of Sri Droupathyamman temple which capsized on Saturday in Thilasapet.

There was a pit by the roadside which got filled in the rainwater. One of the wheels of the car sank into that pit and the car tilted and crashed when it was pulled further.
Several devotees complained that the civic authorities were careless in not carrying out even the basic repairs to the broken roads.
The tragic mishap could have been avoided if only that roadside pit had been firmly packed up, they said.
Three persons Saravanan,Ramalingam and Arumugam came under the car and were rescued by onlookers and rushed to the Kadirgam government medical college.
Saravan (43 )died in the hospital. Former Chief Minister N Rangasamy visited the temple situated nearby his house.
